How can I be sure of Heaven when I die? What is salvation? What does it mean to be saved?
First, let's begin with the most important news ever: the gospel. The word gospel means good news.
The Apostle Paul defines the gospel of salvation that guarantees eternal life in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4:
"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures."
That is the gospel. Salvation simple and clear.
Let's look at God's very words concerning this matter (not merely the "words of men" as in 1 Thessalonians 2:13):
Titus 2:11 "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,"
1 Timothy 2:4 "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Who does the Lord want to be saved? He wants ALL to be saved according to Titus 2:11 and 1 Timothy 2:4.
All means you and all means me! Every person is a soul whom God created and loves, and for whom Christ died!"
Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
Who can be saved? According to Romans 1:16 EVERYONE who believes on Christ as Savior.
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Now that we know that, what does Jesus say about believing and eternal life?
John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
So simply stated, believing on Christ = salvation = eternal life.
Will you please trust Jesus Christ today?
Eternity is forever.
Rejection of Jesus Christ = forever lost = eternity in Hell.
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Trusting Jesus Christ alone for your salvation will give you the assurance that you have eternal life from this moment and for eternity.
Trust Him today.
